Hey Reader,
Over the last few weeks, we've spent time evaluating the roles we carry and asking whether the goals we're pursuing align with God's purpose for our lives.
We've reflected, asked some tough questions, and sought God's guidance.
So now what?
Here's where we put that reflection and God-breathed awakenings into action.
We write it down, my friend.
Yes, you're going to write it down and create a personal mission for how you want to navigate each day with God at the center of yourlife mission.
The thing is, there is power in putting on paper what God is revealing to us. There is clarity in capturing the values, priorities, and direction He's pressing on our hearts for this season.
If you've been following me for some time, you know I'm a true fan of Stephen Covey and his 7 Habits, so if this sounds familiar, you're right on target. I've created multiple personal mission statements (or personal constitutions) over the years based on his inspiration.
Yet, where I've been growing is incorporating the divine guidance of the Holy Spirit and allowing those beautiful whispers of grace to shape it... day by day, month by month, and year by year.
And let me tell you, it's crazy to see how my personal mission statements have changed. Like seriously, a different person!
The beauty of it? It's fascinating to look back and read each one and see how our amazing Lord has continued to shape me, move through me, refine me, and keep me anchored in His image.
If you haven't created your own mission statement yet, I encourage you to start today.
The goal isn't perfection; you're simply taking the values, priorities, gifts, and roles the Lord has pressed upon your heart and creating a personal commitment you can return to daily, one you can read each morning prior to starting your day.
The focus is creating a note/document/screenshot - written by you, that you can read each day, that serves as a reminder of who you are, what you believe in, what you stand for, how you want to love and serve others, and the impact you hope to make through the roles God has entrusted to you.
Because when the winds blow and circumstances become difficult, you know where you stand. Your identity remains rooted in Christ.
And when you know who you are in Him, you know how to move forward, no matter the season.
Scripture of the Week
"For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
Don't ever forget that as God's masterpiece, youhave been created with intention. Youhave been equipped with the gifts, placed in specific roles, and prepared for good works to accomplish through His grace. Your mission statement isn't about creating an identity, it's about capturing and living out the identity and purpose He has already given you.
Challenge of the Week
Set aside 15–20 uninterrupted minutes with the Lord this week and begin drafting your personal mission statement.
Reflect on:
The roles God has entrusted to you in this season.
The values you want to be known for.
The impact you hope to make through those roles.
The ways God is currently stretching and growing you.
Don't worry about making it perfect.
Simply write down what God has been revealing to your heart over the last few weeks.
Then place your mission statement somewhere you'll see it every day and allow it to serve as a daily reminder of who God has called you to be and how He wants you to impact the world around you.
Closing Prayer
Sovereign Lord,
Thank You for creating me with purpose and intention.
As I reflect on the roles You've entrusted to me, help me see them through Your eyes. Give me wisdom to discern what matters most in this season and courage to live according to the values You've placed on my heart.
Help me create a mission that reflects Your will rather than my own ambitions. May my life bring glory to You and encouragement to those You've placed around me.
Continue shaping me, refining me, and leading me closer to the person You've called me to be.
Thank You for reminding me that my identity is not found in my accomplishments, my titles, or the expectations of others, but in Christ alone.
May every role I carry and every goal I pursue be rooted in Your purpose and guided by Your grace. In Jesus' name, Amen.
In Love and Christ,
Dorene Elizabeth
