Finding Clarity in the Pressure: Letting God Lead Your Priorities

Finding Clarity in the Pressure: Letting God Lead Your Priorities

Happy New Year to you Reader!

So, here we are in 2026. And may I ask, does this season bring on new exciting ideas and goals… and now you’re suddenly unsure what you should start working on first? Or maybe it’s the kind of season where you have so much to do — and you genuinely want to do what’s right — but you feel stuck because you’re not sure what to prioritize first...

Alright, so I may be describing myself here 😅 but I can’t help but wonder if you know what I’m talking about. I mean, I can’t be the only one, right? 🤔

The quiet tension in my heart often looks like this:

  1. I seek God for wisdom… but I also feel like I have to act fast (#impatientmaybe?)
  2. I act fast… and then feel like I’ve missed the mark
  3. Feel like I've missed the mark and then spiral into overthinking, convinced I missed “the one thing” God really wanted me focused on.

And honestly, Reader? It’s exhausting.

But God has been gently reminding me of something I want to pass on to you today:

He is not asking us to do everything. He’s asking us to stay close enough to hear what’s next.

And of course, this is when we ask (or whine), “But how, God?”

Because patiently waiting on Him can feel daunting when we have to move now — with deadlines to meet and responsibilities pulling at us.

Here’s the thing: God made a solemn promise in His Word:

“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you.”
(James 1:5, NLT)

It’s the word “generous” that gets me — because it means clarity isn’t something we have to earn. Clarity is something God gives when we faithfully sit before Him and allow Him to direct us.

Reader, I get it. Life can be overwhelming. But let’s also not forget: our God intends for us to live a life of peace when we allow Him to navigate the waters of life.

Isaiah 26:3 reminds us:

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”

We are called to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus in every detail of our lives — even the mundane… yes, even in the #daily. This is where clarity, peace, and strength come from.

Psalm 29:11 says:

“The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.”

This week, I’m offering 3 Things to Do When You’re Overwhelmed and Need Clarity in Christ:

1) The Peace Test

Before you decide what to do next, ask:
“Is this decision being led by peace… or pressure?”

Don’t forget: pressure rushes, peace steadies, and God leads.

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts…”

2) The “One Assignment” Prayer

Instead of asking God to explain everything, ask:
“Lord, what is my assignment for this season?”

Then write this down: “Everything else is optional.”

It sounds simple… but it breaks the power of overwhelm.

3) The Faithful First Filter

Ask: “What is the next faithful step?”

God doesn’t always give a full map. He gives a lamp.

“Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path.” (Psalm 119:105)

So don’t force the whole plan. Just take the next faithful step with Him.

Gentle Reminder

Reader, if you’re feeling confused, please don’t assume you’re not hearing God.

Sometimes confusion is simply a sign that we’re carrying too much — and maybe we haven’t fully passed our burdens to Him. Confusion can be God inviting us back into His presence, where we can find rest, peace, and guidance (Psalm 23).

Praying for you. 💞

Let’s Pray

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being generous with wisdom and patient with Your children. I ask You to quiet the noise in our minds and settle our hearts in Your presence. Teach us how to prioritize with spiritual clarity — not pressure, comparison, or fear. Holy Spirit, guide us into the next faithful step and give us peace that we are walking in Your will. We trust You, Lord.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

In Love and Christ,

Dorene Elizabeth
