What’s Keeping You Up at Night?
I read a powerful quote recently, and I’d love to share it with you today:
“What we fear the most often reveals where we trust God the least.”
I don’t know how you took that one in, but me? I think I read it again like five times while thinking about all the things I’ve tossed and turned over in the middle of the night.
And of course, I can never say something is a coincidence — because God always providentially brings things to light in His timing. So, I guess we can call it a "God-cidence?" 🤔
Any-who, I had recently started reflecting on my dreams and those random thoughts that woke me up in the middle of the night. It was as if I knew He was working on me and growing me more.
And then the quote, “What we fear the most often reveals where we trust God the least,” showed up on my screen.
Here’s the thing that really rocked me…
All this time while I rah-rah and shout my faith and how good God is… am I really trusting Him? I mean, if faith is belief — trust — in those things we cannot see, then that would mean if I’m tossing and turning about the unknown… I’m not fully putting my faith in Him.
Well, dang, talk about a growing moment.
So, in essence, that thing you’re mulling over, reasoning about, questioning, and not letting go of… that thing you’re succumbing to anxiousness over?
That’s the very place you’re not letting God shine.
Yeah, it’s a reality check, indeed. And if we’re being real here, as long as we’re in these bodies, we’re always going to struggle with some level of control and anxiousness over the unknown.
But today, please hear me, friend...
When you’re tempted to let your mind spin chaotically with anxious thoughts — especially as you head into a new week — turn to Him.
Put a note on your nightstand. By your bed. In your phone. In your planner. On your bathroom mirror. In your car. A Post-it right in front of you that simply says:
“I fix my eyes on Jesus. He’s working all things out.”
Will it be easy? Absolutely not. But I promise you, the more you practice letting go and letting Him shine, it will get easier — and you will begin to feel His peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) by knowing that as you bring your best, God will do the rest.
SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK
Isaiah 26:3
"You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You."
💡 TIP OF THE WEEK — START YOUR WEEK WITH SURRENDER
Before your week begins, write down the one worry or unknown that feels the heaviest right now. Pray over it, then place the paper somewhere you’ll see daily — your planner, purse, or workspace.
Each time you see it this week, let it be a reminder: I’ve already handed this to God. I don’t have to carry it alone.
This simple habit helps you walk into your week with intention, peace, and trust instead of anxiety and mental spirals.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father,
You see the thoughts that keep me awake and the worries I carry quietly. As I step into a new week, I place those fears into Your hands. Teach me to trust You more deeply in the places where I've been holding on the tightest. When my mind starts to race, help me to fix my eyes on you Jesus, and rest in the truth that You are already working all things out. Fill me with Your peace — the kind that surpasses all understanding and steadies my heart through the unknown. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
