Standing on the Edge of Greatness

Standing on the Edge of Greatness: Recognizing the Extraordinary Already Within You

Hey, Reader!

Have you ever felt like you're standing right on the edge of something — a dream, a calling, a shift — and yet, part of you hesitates to step forward?

That was me this week.

God began revealing something tender but deeply convicting:
I’ve been treating extraordinary faith like it’s meant for everyone but me.

I was doing what many of us do — speaking courage, power, and truth over the people I love… yet quietly settling for “ordinary” in my own heart. And when I tell you I felt numb and selfish, I really thought there was something wrong with me! I mean, aren't we callled...

To think of others above ourselves? (Philippians 2:3–4)

Be an encourager? (1 Thessalonians 5:11)

Be humble and be lifted up? (James 4:10) (1 Peter 5:6)

But here’s the truth the Holy Spirit pressed into me:
If God planted extraordinary in you, who are you to shrink back from it?

Too often, we stand on the edge of greatness — the edge of growth, the edge of obedience, the edge of breakthrough — and let fear, self-doubt, or old narratives convince us to stay small.

We encourage our kids to be brave.
We pray powerful prayers over our friends.
We declare God’s goodness over our families.

But when it’s us? When God says, Daughter, step forward… I have more for you”?

We start negotiating with ordinary again. We shrink. We reason. We feel "less than".

Maybe you’ve been there too.

Maybe you’ve sensed God nudging you toward something deeper, bigger, bolder, yet you’ve questioned whether you’re ready…

or whether you’re “enough”…
or whether God really meant you when He whispered “go.”

Let me lovingly remind you of something:

Extraordinary is not something you chase.
Extraordinary is something you ALREADY carry.

Because you carry Him.

And anything connected to God cannot be ordinary.

This week, I’m challenging myself to catch every shrinking thought, surrender it to God, and step toward what He’s already prepared — not with fear, but with expectation.

Will you join me?

📖 Scripture of the Week

Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
“For we are God’s masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

You are His masterpiece — intentionally crafted for extraordinary purpose. Nothing about you is accidental. Nothing about your calling is small.

🕊 Tip of the Week: Thought Reset Strategy

When you catch a self-limiting thought this week, try this simple reset:

  1. Name it: “This thought is rooted in fear, not truth.”
  2. Replace it: Speak the opposite of the lie out loud.
  3. Re-align: Ask, “What extraordinary step is God asking me to take right now?”

Small mental shifts make room for BIG spiritual breakthroughs.

👉 Trading Ordinary for Extraordinary

🙏 Prayer for the Week

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for reminding us that we were never created for ordinary. You have placed extraordinary purpose, calling, and strength within us. Break every lie that causes us to shrink back.
Silence every voice that tells us we’re not enough. Help us stand boldly on the edge of greatness — not in our own power, but in Yours. Give us courage to step forward, wisdom to discern Your voice, and confidence to walk into the assignments You’ve already prepared. We choose extraordinary because we choose You. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
