When Life Starts Stealing Your Vision & Your Plan

An Encouraging Anchor for Your Week

Living the Vision You Prayed For

When the excitement fades, faithfulness begins.

Intentional Planning Part 7

Over the past several weeks, we’ve spent time talking about our mission, identifying the vision God has placed on our hearts, and creating goals that align with His purpose rather than our own. We even paused for a bit, talked about planner paralysis, and reminded ourselves that intentional planning isn’t about filling every square on a calendar, but about keeping Jesus at the center of every decision we make.

Here’s the thing, my friend: Creating a vision board is inspiring. Writing your mission statement is exciting. Buying a new planner somehow convinces us that this time everything will be different (well… me, anyway).

But then Monday morning arrives, and the busyness of life starts all over again. As we all know, life doesn’t pause simply because God placed a vision on our hearts, and my friend, if we’re not careful, that beautiful vision we spent so much time praying over gets pushed to the side because we become consumed by everything demanding our attention today.

But I've come to realize I don't think that's because we always lack discipline; I think it’s because we sometimes misunderstand how God wants us to move in the things He's called us to do. And when we take our eyes off Jesus, we often lose sight of the extraordinary work He's doing in our ordinary days and through our ordinary faithfulness.

Noah didn’t build the ark in a weekend. Joseph didn’t move up directly into leadership after his dreams. Nehemiah didn’t rebuild Jerusalem’s walls in a single afternoon… and there are so many more...

All of these amazing examples we read about in the Bible simply kept showing up, one faithful act of obedience at a time.

The vision God gives us rarely unfolds in dramatic moments. More often, it unfolds in obedience one day at a time.

One prayer. One conversation. One decision. One difficult "yes." One mundane day after another.

God isn’t only interested in the vision He’s leading us toward. He’s deeply interested in the women we’re becoming while we pursue it.

"So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up."
Galatians 6:9

Sometimes we become so focused on the destination that we overlook the work God is doing in our lives every single day.

So, if you've been wondering whether the vision God gave you is still alive, let me encourage you right now: Don’t confuse ordinary days with an absent God. He's still writing your story. You simply have to remain faithful in the Chapter He's written for you today.

In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

In Love and Christ,

Dorene Elizabeth

This Week’s Reflection

Before you close your planner this week, open your journal.

Ask yourself:

What ordinary moments has God been using to shape me into the woman He's calling me to become?

Then write a prayer thanking Him for His faithfulness, even in the places where you can't yet see the full picture.

🙏 Let’s Pray

Thank You for reminding me that You are just as present in the ordinary days as You are in the mountaintop moments. Forgive me for measuring Your faithfulness by visible progress instead of trusting the quiet work You're doing within me.

Help me to keep my eyes fixed on You, especially when the journey feels slow or the vision seems distant. Give me the courage to remain faithful in the small acts of obedience, knowing that You are using each one to shape me into the woman You've created me to be.

May I never grow weary of doing the good You've called me to do, and may my life reflect a steadfast faith that trusts Your timing above my own.

I surrender my plans, my dreams, and, my vision back to You, believing that the One who called me is faithful to complete the work You've begun.
